Creating a Fitness Notebook

We continue to be impressed with the ways you, our Golden Coil community, customize and use our planners and notebooks in your daily life. We’ve seen notebooks customized into family recipe collections, planners turned into homeschool organizers, and project planners made for interior designers. Today we are sharing some tips and tricks for using our notebooks to customize your own fitness planner and tracker. Our layouts and tracking pages make it easy to create a fitness notebook that is unique to your own needs.

To start creating your own fitness notebook for the year ahead, you’ll want to start by clicking “Notebook” on our website to begin customizing. After choosing your cover, you can create a fill page with your personal details and an inspiring quote to help you stick to your goals. What words inspire and motivate you? Add a quote that will continue to inspire you as the year goes on. After your fill page, you have the option to pick one primary Layout and any number of +Pages to customize the rest of your notebook. Below you will find our favorite suggested Layouts and +Pages to use for a fitness notebook.

Layouts and +Pages

Measurement Tracker

Does measuring yourself motivate you? If so, include these pages in your planner. If you find measuring triggering or not helpful for you in your fitness journey, skip these! If you’re creating this notebook to cover a full year, you’ll want to include at least four in your notebook so you have a section for each month. These can be added to the beginning of your notebook.

Tracker

This blank tracker page can come in handy for tracking other goals you have for yourself or mapping your ideal day. Track the days you journal, meditate, read for enjoyment, walk outdoors, etc. Use colored pencils or markers and have fun with it! Include as many tracker pages as you will need, depending on the extra goals you would like to track.

Year at a Glance 1

This is a fantastic layout for looking at the entire year in one glance. You can jot down your goals for each month or use the layout as a place to check in at the beginning or end of each month. Including one should be sufficient to cover you for a full year.

Year at a Glance 3

This is an excellent layout to use for tracking the entire year in one place. Many Golden Coil customers like to use this to color in each day they meet a goal. Or use it to jot down a quick note. Runners might like to record their mileage in the daily square each day so they can track miles run throughout the year.

Mood

The Mood tracker is a wonderful tool for checking in with yourself each day. Golden Coil fans like to keep a jar of pencils/markers, or stickers handy to color in their mood each day. This can be a great motivator! Perhaps you see your most energized and happiest days correspond to those when you move your body or enjoy a favorite activity. If you have a stretch of days where your mood tracker shows you aren’t feeling your best, you can look through the rest of your notebook and identify what you might be missing day-to-day.  One mood tracker page should be sufficient to cover your year.

Fitness + Meals Layout

For a fitness notebook, this will be the key layout for your notebook. This spread includes one page for your week’s plan of workouts while the other side maps your meals for the week. The bottom of the layout includes space for a grocery list and an additional list you might have. Include at least one page for every week, so 52 in all. This is a great layout to sit down with on the weekend and map your workouts and meals for the week. It doesn’t mean plans won’t change, but having everything written down and organized will help you stay on track to meet your goals.

Dot/Grid/Lined/Blank

Be sure to include plenty of space at the back of your notebook for daily journaling. Give yourself room to check in every day. This is also a great place to store favorite recipes, motivating tips, workout plans, and inspiring quotes. Choose the style of page you like best. The Dot or Grid pages offer versatility to be a text heavy or image heavy page depending on what you prefer to include.

Wellness

The Wellness layout is another great option that combines tracking several of the items we’ve mentioned above in one place. If you prefer this layout to, say, the Fitness/Meal Layout, you could use this as an alternative and include one for each week.
