Which layout is best for me?
One of the most frequent questions we are asked by customers is, “Which layout is best for me?” We know there are a lot of options to choose from, but we’ve found the best thing to evaluate is what kind of schedule you have: appointment-based or to-do-based? Of course, most schedules will be a healthy mix of both, but this is a helpful jumping-off point. We hope that this post is helpful for you as your prepare to create your 2021 planner for our upcoming Black Friday sale!
Here are our top 3 layouts for a more appointment-based schedule:
VERTICAL 1 DOUBLE PAGE
This layout breaks each day of the week into hourly increments, which is perfect for scheduling in every appointment and meeting. There’s a small to-do list on the bottom of the left page and of course, to-do items can be added on empty hourly lines. The weekend is broken into open blocks, so this layout works best for Monday-Friday appointment based schedules.
BOXES 1 DOUBLE PAGE
We love the way this layout divides each day evenly, which makes it perfect if your schedule is more appointment-based during both the weekdays and weekend. Instead of breaking the day into hours, the lines are unmarked, which caters to a less regular schedule.
HOURLY DAILY
Our hourly layout dedicates a full page to each day of the week, which gives you more room for detailed appointments as well as a to-do list for each day. This makes this layout a great option if your schedule is mostly appointment-based but you want to incorporate your to-do list into your planner.
Here are our top 3 layouts for a more to-do-based schedule:
HORIZONTAL 2 SINGLE PAGE
This layout is one of our favorites! The open sections for each day give you plenty of space for to-do items and other lists. Plus, we love the long to-do list on the right page along with other helpful sections for notes, ideas, and planning ahead.
HORIZONTAL 2 DOUBLE PAGE
Similar to the single page version of this layout, there’s plenty of space for your daily to-do lists. You could even break each day into 2 or 3 compartments, ie a to-do list for personal items and a to-do list for work. Or, you could jot down appointments on the left side of the day and keep a daily to-do list on the right side. We also love the large to-do list on the right page!
SECTIONS 2 SINGLE PAGE
The reverse ordering of the pages in this layout (to-do lists on the left, days on the right) works well for those who need to jot down their to-do list, priorities, and meal plan first and then schedule their days accordingly. We love the open boxes for each day which allow you to plan out whichever mix of appointments and to-dos best fits your life.
