Practicing Gratitude

Golden Coil Practicing Gratitude Customizable Planner

As a Golden Coil team, we often talk about how our planners aren’t just for keeping our clients organized or making their lives easier. Those are certainly two important reasons we do what we do. But we often talk about the transformative nature of planning itself. How practicing something each day makes you a little better, a little more organized, present and productive. At its best, the process of planning is transformative, which is something that drives us to make products that reach for that ideal.

We believe being grateful takes practice. There’s a lot of stress and frustration that we each face on a daily basis, which often makes it hard to see the silver lining. We’ve designed our layouts and +pages with this in mind and hope that as you use these features in your planner, you’ll be able to develop a consistent practice of gratitude in your life and feel its transformative effects.

Here are 3 ways we love using our planners to practice gratitude:

GRATITUDE IN YOUR LAYOUT

When creating our layouts, we were careful to make each one as flexible as possible. This means you can adapt any of our layouts to incorporate a bit of regular gratitude practice, whether that means you dedicate a spot in each day’s section or you change a weekly meal planning list to reflect daily gratitude. Our Boxes 1 Weekly Single Page layout includes 3 fillable lists, one of which would make an excellent spot for keeping a gratitude list each week.

Some of our layouts have a list dedicated to gratitude, such as the Horizontal Half 4 Weekly Single Page layout (our Sections 1 and Sections 2 Weekly Single Page layouts also have this page). Choosing one of these layouts will help you develop a habit of gratefully reflecting each week by filling out this simple 4-item list.

GRATITUDE, ONE LINE A DAY

There are a variety of ways you could make your customized planner into a planner/journal hybrid by adding +pages that allow you to journal. One of our favorite ways to do that is to add the Month at a Glance +page. The left page of the layout has a line dedicated to each day and the right page of the layout has four sections of lines. You could easily convert this layout into a one-line-a-day gratitude journal and then use the right page for more in-depth journal entries you want to include.

VISUAL GRATITUDE JOURNAL

We created our Storyboard pages to be a helpful resource for project planning, but we’ve also found them to be a fun way to create a visual journal. Our square Storyboard pages are the perfect size for a polaroid, so you could add this +page to your planner and keep an ongoing collection of images and notes about the things you’re grateful for in your life.
