Transitioning into the New Year with Ease

The New Year is such an amazing time to get back into a new routine, set goals, admire what you have accomplished so far and unwind after the holidays. It is a time to reflect on how you want your upcoming year to go and to enjoy looking back on the memories created in the previous year. Today we want to talk about some good ways to help make this transition run smoothly for you and your household!

First things first, set some realistic expectations. Take it slow, get back into a good schedule and ponder some goals that you have for yourself. My favorite thing to do at the end of each year is write down 5 things I am proud of myself or my family accomplishing and 5 things that I hope to accomplish in the following year. Sometimes I don’t accomplish everything on my list and I am reminded that I did a lot of other great things when I write down the things I am proud of myself for. It helps keep my spirits up and encourages me to continue this routine each year.

Get back to your “To-Do’s”. Get yourself a beautiful new planner, a fresh set of pens and get to work planning out your upcoming weeks and months. Start small with your to-do list, and work your way back up into your regularly scheduled tasks. Sometimes it just takes writing things down to find the motivation to get started and to ease a busy mind.

Next set up some good systems, and a routine or schedule that will work for you. Getting back into the groove can be difficult after months of holidays, busy weekends, and late nights. Try creating a morning and evening routine that benefits you and allows you time to breathe before starting and ending your day.

When creating a new routine or schedule, including time to move your body is essential! Get back to your gym if you went prior to the holidays, try out a new form of fitness, or even just get outside and walk! Enjoy the fresh air and the endorphins that you get from movement! This is a great way to help increase energy if you are like me and feel the holiday slump big time!

Find ways to enjoy self care. Whether that is nightly baths with tea and a book or meeting up with your friends for coffee once a week - do what makes you happy and what fills your cup. It will look different for everyone, but make sure to include this important step in creating your New Year routine.

Find things to look forward to! After the excitement of the holidays, January and February can feel a little long and dreary! Plan some fun activities, start reading a new series, try a new hobby or create a fun themed menu to look forward to in the coming months.

We hope this year was a good one for you and your loved ones. We want all of you to know how grateful we are at Golden Coil for such an incredible and supportive community. We couldn’t do it without all of you!

We would love to hear your favorite ways to smoothly transition into the New Year as well! Happy New Years!
