What’s Cookin’? 10 Lists for the Foodie
I love to eat. I’m always thinking about my next meal and consider meal prep an artform. Transforming leftovers feels like a secret mission and I always welcome the task. As such, my planner is riddled with all sorts of food-related things: meal plans, illustrated grocery lists, and all the foods my two-year old can name. If you’re someone who always has eating on the brain, here are 10 fun and functional food-focused list ideas for your journal.
Recipes to Try
Feeing inspired? Keep a list of recipes for when you’re ready for something new.
Make-ahead meals
Got some time on your hands? Make a list of meals you can make in advance or keep in the freezer for when you need a quick fix.
Holiday Traditions
Grandma’s sweet potato pie? A hate-to-love jello mold? What are the recipes that have been passed from one generation to the next?
Favorite Restaurants
Name the spots you always take friends when they come to town or your favorite places you’ve eaten on vacation. I keep a running list of my favorite restaurants and my favorite meals.
Special Occasion Restaurants
Feeling fancy? Where are your go-to places for special events or spots where important memories have been made?
Restaurants to Try
Are there new spots on your radar? Keep a running list of all of the restaurants you’ve been wanting to try.
Takeout Favorites
Not in the mood for cooking? Keep a list of take-out go tos. I like to keep a list of restaurants and what everyone in our family orders for the nights when we’re just too tired to think.
Pantry Inventory
Having a well-stocked pantry ensures you’re able to whip up something delicious even when there’s no time to go to the grocery store. I like to keep a pantry master list of canned goods, dried fruit and nuts, herbs and spices, rice and grains, and baking supplies.
Fridge Inventory
How often do you find unidentifiable leftovers in the back corner of your fridge? Knowing what’s in the fridge, ensures you know when to get what, prevents overbuying, and ultimately curbs food waste.
Food Log
For me, eating is memory making. I keep a food journal as part of a personal archive. But keeping a food journal also helps you better understand your eating habits and keep tabs on your health.
