Gathering Inspiration
In these digital days we can forget the beauty of images in hard copy form. We at Golden Coil love to utilize Pinterest for our digital collections. But once we narrow our ideas for a particular project, we love to move things to hard copy. Our notebooks make the perfect blank canvas for collecting inspiration and organizing ideas. If you’re dreaming of your next home design project, consider our project pages as you collect your ideas. The blank boxes work perfectly for sketches, pasting in photos, and making lists. If you have a variety of projects beginning, think about dedicating a section of your notebook to projects. You can utilize a full spread of pages for each room you plan to work on. Check out some of our favorite, simple home design tips below!
Sit with it
Take your time with a space. After you’ve lived with a space for some time, you may find your wishlist has changed. Sit in each room and brainstorm what you love about the space, what you’d love to change, and make a list of any projects or wishlist items to purchase. This can be as simple as changing an outlet cover or as involved as taking a wall down.
Shop your home
Sometimes we are so locked into the way our homes are arranged, we can’t imagine changing things around. We may also feel a need to purchase new items and can forget the wonderful items we already own. Before you begin buying new items for your project, think about moving items around your house. Maybe the lamp in your living room could cozy up your bedroom. Maybe the soup bowl in your cabinet could collect keys and sunglasses in the entryway. Have fun with it and breathe new life into the items you already own!
Collect
When inspiration strikes, save images digitally or in print. Jot down notes about what you like, sketch ideas, and save paint samples and fabric swatches. If you are working with a professional on your project, they will appreciate seeing your vision organized in one place!
