Planning Helps Me Be More: Productive
One of the things we love most about planning is its transformative nature. It’s a simple practice that, over time, helps you turn thought into action and transforms you into a better self. Planning out actions and goals is the secret to reaching your potential. Simply put, planning helps each of us to be more.
We talked with some of our most dedicated planners in the Golden Coil community and asked them to tell us how planning has made them more productive. We hope you feel as inspired and motivated as we did from their beautiful insight!
“A planner is one of the best ways that I have found to keep me productive. I use my planner as a weekly to-do list with various tasks that need to be completed for my clients and their projects. Working on several projects at a time can leave me feeling overwhelmed and stressed at times. But having a to-list helps to make my workload feel more manageable and also gives me a visual of what still needs to be accomplished that week. At the end of the week, there is nothing more satisfying than looking back and seeing just how productive I was and seeing how many tasks I was able to tackle.” -Rachael Dilbeck
“A well thought out plan allows me to focus better on the task at hand and delegate my time. I love writing my plans and to dos for the day and week in my planner because it allows me to see everything I need to do at a glance as well as remind me of different tasks I want to get done. When everything is written out in front of me I feel like I'm more productive because I can balance what I need to do with what I want to do.” -Kelsey Menze
“Between my job and my kids' school and activities, there are days when I feel like we don't get a lot of time together. Planning allows me to take a little time on Sunday evenings to lay out my week so I can use my time effectively and maximize the time we get to spend together as a family. It helps me sit down and look at my week as a whole. I can take the daily tasks that keep our household running, and schedule them around work/school activities. Nothing falls through the cracks, and I don't waste time trying to figure out what I want to get done in a short amount of time.” -Katie Comeau
“I have to manage a lot of things in my life, and planning is the way that I am able to stay on top of everything. Being able to see my week and tasks laid out helps me formulate a plan of attack for each day and to carve out time for myself as well. Taking some time at the beginning of the week to plan the week makes it so much more possible to achieve my goals and stay on track.” -Cynthia Wolf
“Just the small task of checking or crossing something off my list is deeply satisfying. I am not working at the moment so I have less to cross off but that is also why maintaining my productivity in the unending number of days off is so important. Remembering what day and date it is. Being reminded of due dates and birthdates keeps me moving through my day with intention and production. Writing down the everyday tasks that I do makes me feel accomplished and keeps my environment safe and comforting. I am still the person I was with a job and it is very important for me to maintain that sense of self and to keep pushing forward for my new opportunity.” -Rebecca Valletti
“When I compare my schedule to my list of hopes for the week, I find sections of time where I can be more productive and make progress on my to do list. When I don’t have a running to do list or I don’t keep my agenda up to date, I’ve found I get less of my ‘hopeful’ list done- the things I’d like to do but aren’t really a priority, like mending my daughter’s shorts, choosing a new phone case or finding a new recipe. Having a running list of things I’d like to do and knowing when I may have time to do them means they’re much more likely to actually be accomplished!” -Sara Allison
