Grace Under Pressure

What a challenging time in which we find ourselves. The uncertainty of it all has been difficult for us and we know it’s been difficult for you as well. It’s tough not knowing how long this is going to last or what things will be like in a week or a month. We find ourselves putting a lot of expectations on ourselves to keep running at the same pace or to run even faster now that we have some extra time. We know many of you find yourselves with more responsibilities while trying to work from home, trying to keep a small business alive, and/or figuring out how to homeschool your kids.

We see you and think of you and hope that you are giving yourself grace. The entire world is slowing down and we hope you give yourself permission to do the same. It’s okay if things go undone. Realize that you’re doing your best in whatever way you need to.

We personally hope to use this time to do the things we never have time to do. To read a book. To learn new recipes. To finish a personal project. To snuggle our kids. To finally clean out closets. To make happy memories with our families. This time is an opportunity and we want to make the most of it. We want our kids to look back on this time with happy memories.

We hope all of us can come out of this with a shift in perspective, realizing that the moments we have together are precious and important. This time is good practice at being present and purposeful in the things we do. When our lives speed back up, we hope we’ve learned a valuable skill of making whatever time we have with our loved ones rich and meaningful. We hope we’ve become better at prioritizing what matters most.

Ernest Hemingway said, “Courage is grace under pressure.” We believe true courage is shown in doing your very best despite the immense burden you feel. Doing your best includes crying in the shower, losing your patience, and screen time for your kids. It means you take it a day at a time, a moment at a time, while giving yourself permission to make mistakes and forgiving yourself. It means you keep moving forward. You can do this. We can do this. Have courage!
