Homeschooling with Your Golden Coil Planner

One of our favorite things about our Golden Coil community is seeing how people customize their planners for their individual needs. We have a lot of parents who find their planners useful for their busy homeschooling schedules and we wanted to share with you some of their tips for getting the most out of their planners.

The month at-a-glance page is helpful for planning out the school year, with a different theme or set of lessons assigned to each week. This is also helpful for planning out more long-term projects as well looking ahead to activities such as field trips. Here’s what Sena Nelson says about her approach:

“I plan out the big events of the month on the month overview calendar and then the smaller details on the daily pages. For example, the letter of the week and the field trip go on the monthly calendar for me and the daily lessons go on the daily pages!”

With a great selection of weekly layouts, you can choose one that fits best with how you like to map out your homeschooling plans. Natalie Young loves using the open boxes of the “Sections I” single-page weekly layout. This gives her plenty of room for flexible plans as well as much-needed to-do lines to fill out smaller tasks.

Randie Megan prefers the “Horizontal I” double-page weekly layout. Here’s how she likes to use hers:

“I love to use the Weekly Double Page in Horizontal I for organizing my day! I write down what school we are on, what our weekly field trip is going to be, what activities we may have, and other miscellaneous things like any library books due. I also use the month at a glance pages to write down what weeks of school I am going to be on - that way I can map out my school year!”

We’ve also loved seeing how our homeschooling community uses the assignments page. This page is a helpful way to keep track of specific lesson plans and tasks as well as grades and a look at what’s coming up next week. If you homeschool multiple children, you could choose to include one assignments page per week to help you keep track of their varying tasks. The assignments page could also be helpful to include in a personal notebook or planner for each child!
