Hosting a Stress-free Thankgiving
We wanted to share some helpful tips to make your Thanksgiving dinner a successful and stress-free event, so we consulted an expert! Carly Bohne of @partywithcarly gave us some excellent advice:
“My first major tip for hosting Thanksgiving at your house is to potluck the pressure away! Thanksgiving quite often feels extremely overwhelming with all of the food prep and getting your house ready and decorating and the list goes on and on. This year, share the love with others by asking Aunt Martha to bring the pie, putting your brother Tom in charge of stuffing, and making sure your mom brings her famous mashed potatoes. The more people that are attending only means that there are more people there to help you out!
Second, focus all of your decorations on your Thanksgiving tablescape. I would set up a serving station with all of the food on the kitchen counter or at a different table for people to dish up, leaving your main dining table free of anything other than tableware and decor. Gather any spare pumpkins, greenery, or any simple fall decor you might have lying around and thoughtfully place them together as the centerpiece for your table - remember sometimes less is more!
Finally, don't be afraid to play around with color! We often become too comfortable with the classic Thanksgiving hues of reds, oranges, and yellows, but it's okay to switch things up every once in a while. If your favorite tableware is in white and blue hues then decorate your tablescape with blue hydrangeas from the grocery store and some pretty white pumpkins! These types of fun decor choices can often unexpectedly become a hit!”
Carly also loves using our Event Planning +page to make sure everything runs smoothly for any party or gathering:
“Golden Coil's Event Planning page is SUCH a lifesaver! Sometimes I feel like such a scatterbrain with ten different lists floating around my notebook but this page helps me keep it all in one place! My favorite part of this +page in is the shopping list. I like to add my budget goal for the party on the blank line above the shopping list so that I can keep myself on task and under budget (that way there is more $$ for extra cake). I also love using the other column for people I need to call or email while planning the event like venues, bakeries, photographers, etc. Like I said, this Event Planning page is SO helpful for any party you are wanting to throw, big or small!”
We hope these insights help you feel ready to host a memorable and low-stress Thanksgiving this year! Make sure to check out Carly’s website for more party planning inspiration! Many thanks, Carly!
