Creating a Custom Hosting Notebook
We are approaching our busy holiday season and if you’re someone who loves to host events or if you have a family member or bestie who loves to host parties, we think you’ll enjoy today’s post. We are talking today about creating a custom hosting notebook. A hosting notebook is a central place to plan, prep, and record details around events and dinners. Instead of wondering what you served, or what worked or didn’t the last time you hosted a party, you can simply refer back to your notebook to review your notes, menus, and tips. This notebook is for the organized host who likes to plan parties and menus and keep track of what they cook and make. Setting Up Your Notebook
To make a custom hosting notebook, we like to begin the process on our website by selecting the Notebook option. Begin by choosing your cover and customizing your Fill Page. This is a perfect spot to include a favorite quote or a dedication to the person you are gifting to. One of our favorite food quotes comes from M.F.K. Fisher, “First we eat, then we do everything else.” Next we use the Layouts section to build the middle section of the notebook. For this section we added 50 of the Event Planning layout. This layout is versatile for lots of events and will make up the bulk of the notebook. Next we used the +Pages section to add sections to the front and back of the notebook. To the front we added 20 general To Do pages. These are perfect for last minute shopping lists and jotting down anything you need to finish before your event. In the back of the notebook we’re finishing it out with blank pages. We included 50 in ours. These blank pages are super flexible and can be used to record menus, become a guestbook for event attendees, or spot to jot down helpful notes after the event.
Additional Customizing
Once your notebook arrives, gather your art supplies and get into the page of the notebook to add in some color and additional customizing with doodles, stickers, washi tape, drawings, quotes, and collages. We love to use watercolors to paint light washes on menu pages or add small doodles to the margins. Keep the notebook as minimally decorated or as over the top as you wish!
