Website Tips & Tricks

We’re here today to give you the inside scoop on how to best navigate our website while customizing your planner! Section by section, we’ll break down tips, tricks, and things to consider!

Page Count Box

As soon as you begin customizing, you’ll see a small “Page Count” box in the bottom right corner of your page. You can “Click for Details” to see a breakdown of where each page in your planner is coming from. Something you’ll want to consider here is your coil size! As you can see in the chart below, we offer 4 different coil sizes to accommodate varied book thicknesses. If you know you love the 1 1/8” coil size, you’ll want to be sure to stay between 161 and 200 pages! If you are primarily concerned with getting the maximum number of pages you can in your planner, you’ll just need to be sure your page count is less than or equal to 242!

Fill Page

Did you know that you can use emojis in your fill page?! Simply press (control+command+space) to pull up emojis on your keyboard! If you want to experiment with this, double check your planner preview at the end of the customization process to be sure that the emoji generated properly - not all will! Another consideration on the fill page - there is a character limit for each field, so if you have a very long name, email, or quote/message, you may need to abbreviate or summarize! If any of the text is cut off in the planner preview, it will appear just like that in the print copy, so have a keen eye when reviewing.

Contacts

If you plan to add contacts to your planner, this tutorial will give you all the information you need to know in less than 2 minutes. If you have a large number of contacts, we highly recommend using our CSV template. Added bonus - you only have to fill this out once, and you can reuse it year after year!

Dates

At the top of this section you can select a “Sunday Start” or “Monday Start” using the dropdown menu. This selection applies to the dated monthly calendar and will determine if your weeks begin on a Sunday or a Monday!

Events

One of the unique aspects of a Golden Coil planner is that you can add personal events from your digital calendar to be printed into your planner. I like to add an .ics file of family and friend birthdays each year (including the cute birthday cake emoji, of course)! If you plan to add events from a Google Calendar or Apple iCal, these tutorials will walk you through the process of creating and uploading your .ics file step by step! *Insider Tip* You may tweak your planner’s “start date” and “end date” several times as you refine your page choices and planner length. If this is the case for you, be sure to add your holiday presets and .ics file after your dates are finalized to be sure that they apply to all planner dates.

Layouts

One thing to keep in mind as you select your layout - if you choose a daily layout, your planner will be approximately 6 months in duration (to keep the planner within our 242 page limit). If you choose a weekly layout, your planner will be approximately 1 year in duration.

+Pages

In the fall of 2021, we added our new “Advanced Settings” feature. You’ll find this icon on the far right side of the +Pages tab. If you have multiple +Pages appearing in each section, advanced settings will allow you to choose the order in which they appear.

Review

Go back and forth between customizing and reviewing as many times as you need to refine your page count and planner contents. Be sure to check every page of your preview! Here are a few things to look for specifically:

-Are your start and end date correct?

-Are your imported events and holiday presets present all throughout the planner?

-Are your fill page details accurate?

Shipping & Returns

It’s helpful to note that all orders take approximately 4-5 business days to be printed, assembled, bound and packaged. After FedEx pickup, the package should arrive in 2-3 business days. In busy seasons, there may be additional delays in production and/or shipping. We generally recommend choosing a planner start date 2 weeks out from your order date!
