Going with the Flow: Ways to Menstrual Track in your Planner

Periods finally have space to be loud and proud in all sorts of apps, trackers, and tech tools. My personal preference is to keep my menstrual cycle offline, but gone are the days where we have to leave the tiniest of red dots in the corners of our wall calendars to remind us of a visit from Aunt Flo. (Apologies to all of the Aunt Florences out there!) Here are three ways to (literally) mark your menstrual cycle in three of our favorite Golden Coil spreads.

Year at a Glance

I love the Year at a Glance spread because it allows me to see everything at once. Having a birds eye view makes it easier to notice menstrual changes and better predict when my period is due next. This longer form spread allows you to mark the beginning and end of your period, but also leaves space to note how heavy or light your period is, if you’re cramping, experiencing fatigue or having other symptoms.

Mood Tracker

Estrogen and progesterone are hormones. Their levels can fluctuate during menstruation. This can have various mental, emotional and physical effects, which is why tracking mood and menstruation can go hand in hand. Understanding how your period affects your mood can better help you manage your symptoms.

Undated Monthly Calendar

Because periods are part of regular life for nearly half of the world’s population, menstrual cycle tracking in your calendar, along with all of your other daily commitments, makes sense. You can draw an icon, or use stickers, to make note of when you’re menstruating on our Undated Monthly spread. This spread also offers plenty of extra space to note ovulation and intimacy when you are trying to conceive! Affirmations can be positive additions to your monthly calendar as well, ones such as “I honor my body”, “Today, I give myself grace”, and “I am prioritizing self care in this moment”.
