Plan the Perfect Galentine's Day!

Ever since I was a little girl, Valentine’s Day has been my absolute favorite holiday! My sweet mama would always decorate the breakfast table with an elaborate display of confetti, lace and hearts. Each place setting held a handwritten love letter and a small gift. In later years, I lived for the school-sponsored “val-o-gram” notes and roses bought and sent to friends on V-day. For me, Valentine’s Day has always been a cause to celebrate everyone from lovers to family to girlfriends, so I’m ALL about jumping on the Galentine’s Day bandwagon.

In this post, we’re sharing a wealth of ideas for showering your besties with love (and maybe treating yourself a bit too!). Whether your Galentine’s Day vision is elaborate or simple, there’s an idea here for you. Pull out your “Events” page and get to work planning the best February 13th ever!

EATS

Galentine’s Day falls on a Sunday in 2022, so if you’re feeling the classy dress-up-and-chat vibes, book a table for Sunday brunch at your favorite restaurant or cafe! If you live near a large city like Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Salt Lake, or Austin, be sure to check out blogs like Female Foodie for the best eats in your area. You may find your new favorite restaurant by trying something new or unconventional! Be sure to book your reservations early on a busy weekend like this!

If you envision hosting a cozy dinner in your home, the “Events” page is your best friend. Be sure to utilize those handy “Menu” and “Shopping” fillable lists! Choose a main dish or two to prepare and delegate easy sides, sweets and drinks to your girlfriends. Voila! You’ve got yourself a beautiful communal dinner! Here are a few of my favorite recipes for lady get-togethers:

Baked Ziti

Honey Lemon Garlic Salmon

Pear Pecan Salad

Lemon Tarragon Salad

Inside Out Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cake

If you’re planning to kick up your feet and take it easy in your cutest PJs, takeout is never a bad option. But again, call well in advance to place your order. There’s nothing quite like the hangry of waiting 2½ hours for your UberEats to arrive!

PLAY & CHILL

If anyone needs some time to get out and unwind, it's you and your girlfriends! Consider adding a little play, a little chill, or both to the Galentine’s Day schedule. One of the unique features of our “Events” page is that you can chart out a custom timeline for your event to keep track of appointments booked and reservations made in addition to any plans you have laid out for fun at home! Don’t forget the guest list and RSVPs as well! Here are a few options to consider penciling in:

-Mani/Pedis

-Follow-Along Paint Night

-Facials

-A Trip to the Blow Dry Bar

-Yoga Class

-A Beginning Dance Class

-Makeup Shopping

-A Cooking Class

-Massages

-Shoe Shopping

-Cake Decorating

-Mall Browsing

-DIY Home Decor

-Card Games

-Karaoke

-At Home Spa Night

-An Overnight Hotel/Resort Stay

SENTIMENTAL

If schedules don’t align for a formal get-together, there’s always time for a quick shoutout to your lady friends. It’s not the cost or the grandeur of the gift that counts, it’s the thought that counts! Embrace all those cheesy Valentine’s Day cliches and do something sweet! Consider a handwritten letter sent in the mail, a small bouquet of flowers delivered during work, or a classic “heart attack” on your girl’s front door! Hey, maybe you even want to throw it back to elementary school days and pick up a box of Valentine exchange cards and some conversation heart candies!

Happy planning and happy love day, Golden Coil friends! We hope yours is the best!
