Using Your Planner to Capture Memories

Journaling, like planning, has been proven to reduce stress, and boost memory, mood, and even your immune system. But with busy lives and schedules, it’s often difficult to find the time every day to write lengthy journal entries. That’s where your planner comes in! Here are some ideas to help your planner double as a daily keepsake.

Combine Planning and Journaling

In the evening, as you look forward to the next day, also take a moment to look back. It’s the perfect opportunity to destress, refocus, and remember. You’re already there with a pen in hand, no extra effort necessary.

No Novels Needed

Oftentimes journaling feels daunting because we think we need to write book-length entries. Your planner provides a great opportunity to simplify and be concise. Did your child say something funny today? Jot it down in that day’s box or line. It’s not about remembering every little detail, and it’s not about perfect punctuation or grammar. It’s about slowing down and capturing a simple moment in your life.

Maximizing Layouts for Memory-Keeping

If you want to focus more on capturing memories with your planner, here are some pages that can help.

Sections 3 - With lines under each day perfect for jotting down a few memories, a blank square for holding Instagram-size photos, and even its own “journal” section, this is a perfect layout for capturing memories.

Reflections - Whatever the focus of your thoughts—motherhood, projects, self-development—this page has a specific area just for them. The “inspiration” box can also double as a place to put a small photo (think Instax Mini).

Story Board 2 - If you want to take your memories offline, Storyboard 2 doubles as the perfect non-Instagram feed with blank square spaces for printed photos and a few lines to jot down a caption or memory.

These are just a few examples. No matter what layouts you choose, there are plenty of ways to use your planner as a journal. Your day-to-day moments, especially as a mother, are fleeting and worth capturing. The most important thing in a day is sometimes the simple act of remembering.
