Happiest Holiday Wrapping

Two weeks into December and we are busy fulfilling orders and getting your planners and notebooks out the door. We are readying for the holidays with our families. We’re hosting friends, baking treats, and wrapping packages for gatherings. As we tackle our own stack of gifts to wrap, we thought it’d be fun to share some of our favorite wrapping ideas and inspiration!

Brown Paper & String

Brown paper packages tied up with string are a classic for a reason. Simple, recyclable, and elegant. We stock a large roll of brown paper and this red and white ribbon for easy gifting. Reuse ribbon from previously opened packages and consider unconventional holiday colors! Brown paper also makes a perfect template for stamping paper. Check out this simple tutorial for stamping suggestions using potatoes! We also love printing guru Molly Mahon’s wooden block stamps for printing.

Consider Recycling

Parents with kids will attest to the piles of paper and drawings overflowing from backpacks each week. Utilize old artwork, scribbles, and drawings for a fun wrapping option. Cut abstract artwork into fun shaped gift tags too. This simple tutorial provides an easy template for making your own gift tags. Newspaper and old calendars make great wrapping too. A simple white doily makes a romantic, wintery wrapping.

Color Palette and Patterns

When wrapping gifts, consider sticking to one color palette like red or blue. Use paper and trim in those colors. Mix patterns and prints for an elegant combination. We love the way Pops & Piaf mixes their gorgeous patterns.

Incorporate Nature

Next time you’re out on a walk, collect evergreen tips, branches, and berries to add to packages. If you can’t find any items in your neighborhood, you can also buy scrap greens from your local nursery or hardware store. Tuck simple branches into bows, or shape greens into mini wreaths, perfect for fastening to simple wrapping. Felted acorns are also lovely bundled with branches and tied to ribbon on packages. We love these little Christmas trees made using scrap evergreen pieces too.

Paper & Poms

It’s always fun to include some 3-D elements to packages. Attach fabric pom poms or add folded paper elements. These origami poinsettias would be perfect on a package and would make a beautiful ornament too. Ornaments are a great addition to packages. We love this roundup of homemade ornaments. So many of these would be a perfect afternoon project and topper for your gift.

Elegant Fabric Options

Using fabric is a great option for wrapping items. Furoshiki, or Japanese fabric wrapping is a gorgeous way to wrap your goods for Christmas. Reusable furoshiki wrapping cloths are a gift in themselves!

Use Photos

Personalizing wrapping for your gift recipients is such a special touch. Gift tags are a fun way to incorporate photos. Choose a photo of your gift recipient or of a special memory during the year. Print and attach to cardstock for a simple, personal tag. Paper companies also offer photo wrapping paper you can personalize with dates and special details.

Still shopping? Our gift cards make the ultimate gift for family and friends! Gift cards include a unique code your gift recipients can use to start personalizing their own planner and notebooks.
