Resources for Quarantine

Golden Coil Customizable Planners Teaching Kids at Home

We’ve been so inspired to see all of the amazing resources people have offered this week as many kids and parents have found themselves doing school at home during the COVID-19 outbreak. We wanted to round-up and share some of the excellent classes, creative outlets, and teaching resources we’ve seen!

  1. The homeschool resource Other Goose is free for the next 3 weeks! These classes are guided by the lovely Erin Loechner.

  2. Our very own, Trisha Zemp, is offering her kid’s Stop Motion School for free! You just need to share about it on your social media and she’ll send you a code.

  3. Outschool is an excellent homeschooling resource with a wide range of subjects and small video chat classes for ages 3-18. Classes start at $5/class.

  4. Scholastic has a free Virtual Resource Learning Center with 20 days of content for ages PreK to 9. Amazing!

  5. Khan Academy is a non-profit that provides excellent academic resources for K-12 math as well as early college math. They also cover grammar, science, history as well as AP and SAT prep!

  6. Google Arts & Culture offers free virtual tours of museums and historic sites around the world!

  7. The PBS series American Experience has fascinating stories from history that will engage many ages!

  8. Sarah Jane of Raising Wonder is offering free daily printables and videos teaching art lessons for the next 3 weeks (or whenever we’re out of the woods!)

  9. Ashmae Hoiland is offering her course, The Creative Hour: A Course in Creating Alongside Children, for free.

  10. Artist Elizabeth Edwards has created a free printable journal for kids to record and process their emotions through quarantine. Download the printable on her website!

  11. Josh Gad (aka Olaf from Frozen) is reading a daily bedtime story to kids on his Twitter feed.

  12. Oliver Jeffers will be reading the books he’s illustrated and Mac Barnett will be reading the books he’s written (each of them are doing this daily). Check out their Instagram pages for details!

  13. Mo Willems (Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! and Piggie & Elephant books) is doing a daily lunch doodle for kids to watch for the next few weeks!

  14. If you need a creative outlet for yourself (or maybe your older kids/teenagers), Brit+Co is offering their wide array of classes for free for the next 2 weeks! Use the code “SELFCARE” at checkout!

  15. Dance Together Alone is another great outlet for older kids and adults to follow along in a live-streamed dance class. Just be sure to warm up, stretch, and warn your neighbors! :)

  16. Celebrities like Amy Adams, Jennifer Garner, and Reese Witherspoon are joining with Save the Children and No Kid Hungry to raise awareness and funds for the 30 million kids who rely on school for food and will be hit especially hard during quarantine. These celebs will be reading children’s stories each day on Instagram—tune in and donate if you are able!

Are there other resources for parents and children that you’ve seen offered during quarantine? Let us know in the comments and we’ll continue to update this list!
