Uploading Calendars to Your Customized Planner

Golden Coil Planner with an imported calendar printed

Uploading your Apple or Google calendars is a simple and convenient way to customize your Golden Coil planner. Once uploaded, your calendar events will be printed throughout your planner so that you don’t have to write them in by hand. Talk about simplifying your life!

How to Upload Events from Google Calendar

To upload your Google Calendar, you’ll need to create an .ics file. This is easiest to do on a desktop.

  1. First, open up your Google calendar. Click on the gear icon and choose “Settings.” Select the calendar you want to export. Once that calendar is selected, click the blue “Export Calendar” button in the settings.

  2. A .zip file will be downloaded to your computer. Open this .zip file and an .ics file of your chosen calendar will be inside. Drag and drop this .ics file into the indicated area of the “Events” page of your planner customization.  (Note that if you exported multiple calendars, there will be an .ics file for each calendar inside your .zip file and each .ics file will need dragged and dropped individually in order to upload them to your planner.)

  3. Your calendar will upload and automatically open the “Events” tab for you to review and approve. Check through and make sure all of your events have uploaded.

That’s it! If you need more help, here’s a video we created of this process.

How to Upload Events from Apple Calendar

To upload your Apple Calendar, you’ll need to create an .ics file. This is easiest to do on a desktop.

  1. Open up your Apple Calendar. Make sure the calendar you want to upload is selected. Select File, then Export, and Export. Name your .ics file and select where you’d like to save it. Click on the blue Export button.

  2. Go to the location where you’ve saved your .ics file. Drag and drop the created .ics file into the “Events” page of your planner customization. (If you have multiple calendars you’d like to upload, you will need to export each calendar individually and then drag and drop the corresponding .ics file.)

  3. Your calendar will upload and automatically open the “Events” tab for you to review and approve. Check through and make sure all of your events have uploaded.

Done and done! We’ve also created a video tutorial of this process if you need more help.

One thing to note when naming the events in your calendars: the character limit for the monthly view is 16 characters. If your event name is longer than that, it will be cut off in the monthly view. However, the character limit for the weekly and daily views is longer, so a longer event name will not be a problem there.
