A Reading Challenge For Summer

You may be old enough to remember the summer reading programs of your childhood at the local library and what it felt like to head home with a big stack of new books to read. Or maybe you read books to earn free pizza rewards at your local restaurant and stayed up late reading with a flashlight in your bunk bed. The slower pace of summer is here and if you’re a reader, it’s a chance to dig into some good books. To inspire you this season we have some fun reading suggestions for you! Work through the list on your own or as a family. Or use our suggestions to create your own reading challenge in your planner or journal.

  1. Read a new, bestselling book.

  2. Find a friend to read a book with you.

  3. Read a book while sitting near water.

  4. Be an active reader and highlight quotes that resonate.

  5. Use your Golden Coil notebook to keep a reading journal to jot down notes, quotes, and thoughts.

  6. Listen to an audiobook on a roadtrip.

  7. Choose a book to read outside of your go-to genre.

  8. Reread a book that impacted you as a teen.
