5 Ways to Ready your Family For the Start of A New School Year:

The school year has either just begun for your family or is starting within the next few weeks, and it can be an exciting time for everyone. With the excitement, can also come with some stress getting everything ready for the new year. Supplies need to be bought, labeling needs to be done and meal planning lunches is all on your to do lists. Not to mention getting back into a good schedule with bedtimes, homework and any extracurriculars that are starting as well. We know how this goes, and we would love to help give you some ways to ready your family for the fun that is about to come!

1. Start a getting in a better schedule BEFORE the first day of school. Take the week before school to start your earlier bedtime routine, more consistent mealtimes, and more time prepping your home and children for the new year

2. Pull up Pinterest and have your kiddos help you pick some fun lunches that you can compile into a long list and keep on your fridge. This will help meal planning and making lunches a breeze. Consider doing this a few times throughout the year so you can mix it up every couple of months!

3. Try color coordinating or theme coordinating your child’s school supplies. Get everything they need on their lists in the same color or theme so if they go missing, it is easy to help identify. If you have multiple children, this can help keep their supplies separate from their siblings’.

4. Sit down with your significant other or whoever is helping you with your children’s transportation to and from school/activities and set up a schedule. Depending on your needs or schedule you may need to do this weekly, monthly or quarterly.

5. Plan your after school schedule out with your kids. Let them know what snacks are available to them, whether or not they need to do homework before playing, or if screen time is an option. Consider making some kind of chart/calendar that is easily available so that if they have questions on what their day looks like they will have somewhere to reference without first coming to you. When planning your chart or calendar try using the same color markers/ink for each child’s responsibilities/activities as you do when purchasing their school supplies. This makes it easy for them to identify their personal plans.
