Setting Yourself Up For a Successful Holiday Season
We are well into October and the holiday season is fast approaching! It is one of our favorite times of the year here at Golden Coil as we are sure it is for many of you as well! Today’s post is all about helping you all set yourselves up for a very successful holiday season!
Below are a few tips we love to utilize this time of year!
Do your best to schedule anything and everything you can in advance, then WRITE IT DOWN. Whether this be school parties, church functions, friend/family parties - try to plan ahead and get everything written down in your Golden Coil! Try answering questions like “Where will I be spending Thanksgiving? Christmas?” If you need to get travel plans made, start on them now. Look out for deals on flights or hotels if that is something you will be needing!
Try planning your holiday gifting in advance. Neighbor gifts, friends gifts, family/kids gifts, teacher gifts, etc! Start putting them together now so that you aren’t trying to get everything done last minute. Jot down your ideas on one of our holiday gifting pages found in our “+pages’ tab! By doing it in advance, you have the opportunity to price compare and shop sales in order to help keep cost low! It also gives you time if you want to hand make anything!
Consider taking a weekend to clean out and declutter the house. Go through old toys, books, and clothes for everyone living with you and get rid of or donate the things you don’t need. Maybe even go through holiday decor and only keep the things you love. Also make sure that all holiday decor is separated into specific holidays/seasons to ensure easy put up and take down! Minimizing what is in your house allows you to breathe a little better during the chaotic holiday season. We also suggest doing this with your pantry. Go through and get rid of anything expired and stock up on some of the essentials you may need for any holiday baking you have planned.
Spend an afternoon on Pinterest looking through yummy recipes that you can utilize throughout the holidays! Having some ready to go when you are asked to bring something to a party last minute can be a total lifesaver! It also might be a good idea to spend a day meal prepping and freezing some soups or other easy crockpot meals that can be prepared quickly when needed!
Brainstorm ways you can give back to your community during this time. Is there a family you know that could benefit from some sort of Secret Santa project? Is there a soup kitchen that you can volunteer at? Does your church hold any service projects throughout the next few months? These are some great ideas to consider getting on your schedule. Invite a friend and make a day or evening out of it!
If you are the type that loves to send out a family end of year card, get your pictures and outfits planned out now. If you want them to be holiday themed there are tons of studios that can likely create your vision. Spend a little time brainstorming and jotting down notes of what you want to add to your letter each week so it can be sent out before the new year.
Lastly, slow down and try to soak all of it in. Let your prep work beforehand allow you to truly enjoy each and every minute of this wonderful time of year. Spend evenings by the fire and weekends cozied up watching movies. Enjoy the celebrations that come during this time and spend it with the ones you love most!
