Lesser Known Holidays in August
In between Independence Day and Labor Day, there’s the month of August. If you’re the type that can’t go an entire month without something to celebrate, I’ve got good news for you! When setting up your planner, you will be prompted to add Events to your planner. You may also notice the Preset Events. This is where you can add in any fun, lesser-known holidays to make your every day a celebration. Here are just a few and how you might observe them!
Aug 9th - Book Lover’s Day. There are so many ways to celebrate this holiday! Donate a book to your local library. Make a point to listen to a book on your commute to or from work. Schedule in time at the end of the day to read instead of surf. Visit a local bookstore and enjoy the atmosphere or peruse the shelves to see what’s new!
Aug 10th - S’mores Day. If you don’t have time to roast s’mores around a bonfire today or you’re making s’mores for a crowd, try one of these variations:
This easy, oven-baked version
These s’mores nachos, or
These oatmeal chocolate chip and graham cracker cookie s’mores
Yes, please!
Aug 16th - Tell a Joke Day.
Q: Why don’t pirates take a shower before they walk the plank?
A: They just wash up on shore.
Tell this or any other joke that tickles your fancy. If you’re looking for more sophisticated humor, try watching a comedy special on Netflix.
Aug 26th - Women’s Equality Day. This day commemorates the day that women were given the right to vote nationwide. Celebrate by learning about any number of pioneering women from U.S. history, champion a cause you believe in, or even register to vote if you aren’t already.
Hopefully this gives some fun ideas on how to get the most out of your celebrations this month!
